Magnitude-7.2 earthquake rattles mountainous region in Tajikistan
An earthquake measuring 7.2 strikes a sparsely populated region in Tajikistan on Monday, the US Geological Survey, shook buildings in neighboring nations.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
The epicenter 109 kilometers (68 miles) west of the remote mountainous region of Murghob was located.
They struck at a depth of 26 km and rumbled buildings as far away as New Delhi and the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, witnesses said.
Tajikistan is in Central Asia, bordering Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
