Satellite network that provides regional navigation system in India was accompanied by a successful launch IRNSS-1G in Sriharikota on Thursday.
This is the seventh satellite of regional navigation satellite system (IRNSS) Indian constellation, which is designed to provide information about the position in the Indian region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged more – navigation with India’s Constellation after launch.
IRNSS now compete in other countries, viz., System of a global attitude of the United States (GPS), the Russian GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo China and Europe.

Basically, not much is different between these systems, but the United States and the Russians are much more complex due to the large number of satellites in orbit. GPS has 31 satellites and 24 include GLONASS.
India has the least; The Chinese have about 20 satellites and Galileo 10th
So how do these extra costs compared to India?
With seven satellites in orbit, its main purpose is to provide information in the Indian region and around 1,500 kilometers of land.

In essence, it is a desi version of GPS, said Dr. TK Alex, former director of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) satellite center in Bangalore, where they are developed and tested all satellites of India.

In a country that still depended on GPS will be able to collect their data and not rely on a foreign country.
During the war in 1999 Kargil, India can not access GPS data associated with a region that US administration refused permission.

Dr Alex said that India offers two types of services – standard location services (SPS), which will be available to all users (civilian) and limited (HR), which will be accessible to authorized users, such as defense and intelligence services.
“Foreign countries like the United States or Russia don’t provide limited services for us when we need it. Having your own system of navigation services is good for the country … We should not depend on another country,” he said.
